LOUISVILLE, KY
-- The Kentucky Art and Craft Foundation (KACF) is pleased to announce
that Bourbon Ball 2002 will take place on Louisville’s Great Lawn at
Waterfront Park, Friday, October 4, 2002.
This is the eighteenth year for the annual event, which
benefits the exhibition and educational programs of the Kentucky Art
and Craft Foundation. “Bourbon Ball 2002 should prove particularly
festive and memorable with our venue, creative designers, and Moroccan
theme,” states Melanie Beeler, Bourbon Ball Chair.
Lois
Mateus, Senior Vice-President of Brown-Forman Corporation and a
current honorary board member of the Kentucky Art and Craft
Foundation, conceived the first Bourbon Ball.
Proving to be a huge success since 1985, the Bourbon Ball has
established itself as the highlight of Louisville’s fall social
season.
To
date, the Bourbon Ball has raised more than $2.7 million to support
and educate over 400 Kentucky craft artists, and to provide art
education to over 500,000 Kentucky school children.
Beeler says she is committed to raising the money needed to
continue that mission. “It’s
so exciting to see such talented artists share their knowledge with
the public, particularly the school children. That’s when you know
all of this hard work is worth it,” Beeler says.
Beeler
and Co-Chair Millicent Meehan have planned an exciting and educational
evening beginning at 7:00 p.m. with a cocktail reception. During the reception attendees will be able to
bid
on exquisite silent auction items, interact with various Kentucky
artists, sample a wide variety of Kentucky’s finest bourbons, and
meet several Master Distillers. Guests
will be served dinner prepared by The Silver Spoon at 8:30 p.m.
Dancing to the music of The Jimmy Church Band will follow.
Ewald & Associates will decorate the tent with luxurious Moroccan
items. The theme, which is an up-and-coming trend in design, will be
showcased throughout the space using rich vibrant colors, incense,
patterned fabrics and rugs, exotic greenery, Moroccan music, and
elegant dinnerware. Jenkins
Eliason Interiors will provide elaborate centerpieces of grand
candelabras and bowls of figs, limes, lemons and pomegranates for the
tables.
Bourbon
Ball organizers are pleased to announce that Delta Air Lines will
continue their generous support of the Ball this year, by donating as
a raffle item, roundtrip business elite airfare for two to anywhere
Delta Air Lines and its partners fly. The winner could travel to their dream destination including
one of the following exotic destinations: Bermuda, Cancun, London,
Barcelona, Nice, Brussels, South Africa, St. Lucia or Zurich, to name
a few. The raffle winner
will also be able to travel in style with a limited edition piece of
Hartmann luggage. Raffle
tickets will sell for $25 each.
Tickets
to attend the 2002 Bourbon Ball are $350 per person. Corporate tables of 10 are available for $3,500.
This spectacular event is typically a sellout so early
reservations are encouraged. Those
interested in receiving an invitation to the Ball or purchasing $25
raffle tickets, should log onto www.kentuckycrafts.org
