the smaller schools in our region, the craft suitcases may be the only art
instruction they receive all year. We know that they are fulfilling
a great need" -Ginny
Eager, Forward in the Fifth, Berea KY
In order to better serve schools across Kentucky and Indiana, KACF initiated it exceptional traveling craft suitcase program. Themes include: basketry ceramics, folk art mail art, woodworking, photography, printmaking and fiber art. These hands-on, interactive, art and craft project kits include:
-10-15 art objects, which students are encouraged to handle and examine.
-A video, professional literature, and artist bios.
-Discussions of each piece of the content and technique of each piece of art, and classroom project ideas/lesson plans.
-Core Content Connections
Teachers do not need to be art teachers to utilize these suitcases and the contents provided. The cost is minimal: a four week rental is only $25.00 plus shipping, and teachers are encouraged to use the suitcases for multiple classes during that time. KACF is responsible for shipping the suitcase one way and the school assumes the responsibility for returning it by mail or in person.
